I am looking to get a Westin grill guard for my '02 XLT sometime in the near future as I used to have on on my '04 Toyota Tacoma a few years ago.

I have two questions: (1) how hard is it to get off the front rubber strips on the front of the guard and do I need any special tools to do this (I may want to paint it). and (2) I was wondering what you think about mounting driving and/or fog lights on the lowest bar (the one below the license plate. I would do this with either flat stock or angle iron and use a U-bolt to attach it to the lower bar.

Again, I thank you in advance for your opinions and so far I love this site with all the advice and ideas I am getting! If I do everything I want to on my pickup, I will always be broke!

 

I don't think that rubber protector is supposed to ever come off. (but, i may be wrong LOL)
I had fog lights mounted on my lower bar for awhile, but removed them as they blocked the tow hooks.
