Icon5 What would you pay for my ranger.

I'm just curious as to what you would pay for my truck as is. With everything on it. No I'm not selling. I just wonder what some people think its worth.

Why don't you go on craigslist and look?
A ranger like that - would probably be sold on craigslist for about 5800 - 7000 dollars. The thing is there are 2010 Rangers that sell cheaper than dirt and when the ranger is discontinued - the price of these rangers will drop also. I was also recently trying to sell mine - but I decided to just keep it and use it as a beater while I wait for my 2012 Full Size.

You might be able to sell it for more if you try selling it on the Forum because many people are caught up in these cars and don't understand the true value of the small Truck on the market. You also have to take into account that many looking for a ranger at dealerships and auto-trader, etc. - don't want a lifted truck, with bigger wheels, etc - so there are multiple factors included as well. It is a fact that modified vehicles constantly sell or are traded in for much less than it would be if it were bone stock and clean.

I say if your bored of it and want something bigger/newer or more exciting - try giving it a shot selling it on Forums.

Its definitely worth more then 5800-7k. No doubt about that...

Not to mention the meaning of the thread is not "what is it worth," but what some of us would pay for it.

I'd probably pay 10k for it.

I doubt they will come out with a 4 door ranger in the US. I'd be surprised if the ranger made it to 2015 - to the guy who asked.

It also hit me that it would have to compete with the new body style F150s if he did indeed try to get 10 out of it.
You can find an 04 - 05 F150 with black interior day and night for around 10000-11000 (atleast down here in the south where Full size are pleantiful)

I say keep it till you get REAL bored and enjoy it. You've probably put way more money into it than you'd ever get back. I've seen unfortunate situations in the mustang world all the time. Those guys put 10s of thousands of dollars in these foxbody mustangs and can usually sell them around 8 - 11k (and mustangs keep their value legendarily) where as the ranger has the lowest resale value of any truck or small truck currently in production (and most cars for that matter) - so that stat will hurt as well. These trucks are great because they can be found cheap and for those old enough to remember - can be considered a classic! (as i've seen it put on online reviews) so enjoy the ranger for what it is - and be cost conscious when you spend money on it.

it wont, it is supposed to be discontinued in 2012.

I cant actually say what Id pay for your ranger Mike, because Im a cheap azz
but, if your wondering what I think its worth, probably more to you than anyone else.
just as the book value of my ranger is $5400.0 but its worth more to me than that, at the same time, Ive been offered $4500-$5000 for it within the past couple of yrs.

For one i'm not trying to sell it as I stated and if you really think you could get this truck for that your crazy. My trade in is almost 8k on this truck. Private party is around 10k and retail is around 12k for it. If it was bone stock I could ask 10k for it easy, but there is plenty of rednecks that would pay more for a already lifted truck. You could get a striped 4banger for that. Heck my 2wd I had that was just like mine private party is around 7500.

hmm..not trying to **** you off or anything man - but i can almost guarantee you that trade in on your vehicle is not 8,000 dollars. No dealer in the united states of america would give you that for ANY ranger, let alone a 2004. The fact that it is lifted and stuff, hurts it.

as far as idiot rednecks..that seems like your best shot..but you know how that goes - the run around and all that. they'd probably never buy it and keep talking like they would.

I think you could sell the other ranger you were talking about for 7500...in a day, but even with all its got on it - if you indeed did find someone looking for that - i think your looking at around 9 - 10,000 (as everyone on this thread has suggested)

5 dollars to your paypal says that you couldnt sell it for 10k on craigslist in your area if you were to put it up tonight.

But i've been wrong before

How long have you been dealing with buying/selling cars? I've been doing it for the past 11 years and I've owned around 20-25 cars. I know what I can get for this truck if I ever sold it. I've worked at a dealership before too. My truck is in perfect shape with no flaws at all. Low miles for the year too. I also know I'll never get what I put into it, but I know I can sell it for a good bit more then what you think its worth. I went ahead and went to nada.com to show you its value.

Edit:
I just looked at your forsale add again. You really know nothing about a vehicles value do you? Your trying to sell a bare bones 04 for 8k with 125k miles? with potential transmission problems. Yet you say my low mileage(70k) pretty much fully optioned out truck is only work 5800-7500?

I'd give 10k for it. The mods won't help it at all for trade-in though. I did get 7k when I traded in my 04 that was lifted and it was in terrible condition.

Sorry bro - don't know why your getting all defensive. I was trying to sell my ranger for fun.. I have the money saved up to buy a couple of new vehicles, and really wanted to keep my ranger as a beater. If someone wanted to pay the price i requested - I was all for it.

. remember, NADA and KBB..all pre recession.
Even out of a recession... i can assure you your vehicle will not be sold private party for 11,000.. it just wont happen..and you sure as hex won't get 8k for it trade in (you should know..since you've sold cars half as long as i've been alive)
Also recall that you are still utilizing this vehicle.. in a couple of years - the price will drop significantly since Rangers lose value more than any other truck available on the market (which you should also know) so realistically speaking - in 2 years - you sure as heck wont get anywhere near 11 for it.

Remember this conversation when you decide to sell :)

here...have a picture of my car to feel better..out of curiosity - how much would ppl pay for it?

And have some ford love
