I had a friend give me a set of calipers that were all rusted and frozen up. So i used them at cores and bought new ones. Not bad for 45 each. The brackets are powder coated but are in bad shape, i will be bead blasting them at work and then repainting them. All i need now IIRC is the rotors and lines. I have a set of dust shields as well but cant decide if i want to run them or not. I also have the set of Anti-Moan brackets that i will be using but one is missing the U Bolt. I may just buy new ones...

I have a few questions:

Is there somewhere where i can buy some SS Braided Brake Lines for the front and rear?

This is probably a really retarded question but in the How To it shows what section to cut out of the caliper bracket on the LEFT bracket. Is there a picture of what to cut out of the RIGHT bracket, i would hate to screw it up?

Cant help you on the SS lines but Currie sells a great set of rubber lines for about $40.

as far as the brackets, just think about it when you cut them, mock it up on the axle the smooth machined side butts up against the axle flange, and obviously you don't want to cut the caliper mounts of so if you match the brackets caste side to caste side the cut will line line up.

Today i scored a FREE set of Front Saleen Mustang SS Braided Brake Lines. It would be awesome if they worked, anybody know if Mustang and Range Front brake lines are interchangeable.

only one way to find out is try em and see if thay fit... on cuting the plates its simple heres a pick of em unstalled the flat side bolts towards the tire..
and the calbers bolt towars the rear of the truck

 

Do you have to remove the axle to do the install? How do you remove the axle?

What thread is on the end of the brake lines you got?

You don't have to pull the axles....you can cut the old backing plate off if youre not ever going to go back to rear drums....re-read the updated version of my how to...

 

Im not 100% sure of the thread, i will have to check tomorrow. They are Saleen 10-2605-B14196 Break Lines. One end of the line is threaded and the other end is a "ring" theres a bolt with a hole in it. I checked to see if the bolt with the hole in it would screw into the REAR calipers i just bought and it wouldnt! Is the front and rear caliper the same thread size?

If they dont fit, where can i buy a set of SS Lines for the Front?

I'd bet they fit. the thread should be a 3/16-tube inverted flare. It looks like a little cone sticking up deep inside the fitting? A 3/8-24 bolt will thread in?

anyways, rangers have a super common size, i'm sure the mustang is the same.

I got my front lines from a local shop. Call the 4wd shops and ask if they sell universal SS lines. Otherwise, summit sells universal lines that bolt on...just make sure they ahve the DOT (i've heard if you don't have this and you drive on teh street, you can get in big trouble...don't know how true it is though...)

 

As long as the banjo fitting going to the caliper is the same you can always get an adapter fitting for the other end if it's different. Are they as long as your stock ones?
