Impressive. I would be really impressed if it could stop a steam locomotive lol. Unstoppable anyone?

I don't care if it can pull a locomotive, that is still one ugly truck.

It looks like a European version of the F-150 to me. Much larger than the old Ranger.

If I need to tow a locomotive then I´ll buy a super duty, i think the meaning of this little trucks is about a practical work truck with maybe less capability but much more cheaper costs.

In Mexico you can buy a XLT super Duty crew cab with the new 6.7 tubo diesel for around 40,000 bucks, and this new european ranger will cost around 38,000. Pointless for me!

Same. It looks compatible to other trucks/SUVs/crossovers on the market. I think you guys are just comparing it to the 98-11 Ranger front that we all know and love. You need to think about the Ranger in a 2010+ car market. If the old design was doing well it wouldn't be getting killed off. Clearly it is not what's popular as sales have dropped so bad.

On a side note I wonder what the front suspension is. Torsion bar?

I don't like it at all. Looks horrible and looks like a crappy import.

they are coil front and leaf rear. Ford used the equivlent toyota hilux/tacoma as the bench mark to meet or exceed in its design criteria. That is what ford oz has said anyway. And the reason why is that the hilux/tucoma is the market leader in sales globally. Actually if you look at the current model toyota hilux sold here which has been in the market for three years now you would almost swear the new ranger was its offspring e.g. wrap around headlight, slopping bonnet with well raked a pillar etc. only big diff is toyota have a bonnet scoop for there intercooler and ford opted to leave there intercooler infront of the radiator.

So I suppose ends the era of compact pickups. At least to me, that obviously looks like a mid size. Oh well, it was a good run for them I guess. Hope this new model does well for Ford, it looks to have plenty of power, ha.

Same here, not to discredit our truck models though because I have hauled some heavy loads that no one thought I'd be able to. I just need better tires.

Really ford is behind the times in styling which they have always played it safe by being conservative. when you look at the new ranger beside the vehicles it has to compete with that are already in the market and outselling it big time. ford had to catch up.

That thing is larger than our rangers. I think its ok. With the rite color and some mods, I think it would look pretty good.

yes it is bigger than our current model aswell. Ford say it is 10% smaller than a f150 which is part of the reason ford usa didn't want it. The mags here recon that ford usa will not let anything threaten the sales of f series which apparently they think it could.

And that is really what owning a truck is all about.

no official word on the tranny but the zf sourced h/duty unit that ford Aus have been using in all there hi-po v8 models like the typhoon, gt, gt-p etc for the last couple of years is the same unit used in the new ranger (obviously recalibrated for 4wd duties). So it is fair to assume that it was up to the task
