Icon4 TUNER QUESTIONS?

I'm curently looking at buying a SCT X3 tuner. And I'm wondering what 3 custom tunes i should get. I tow a trailer about every weekend. I know one will be 87 economy tune.

I would go with a 93 tune, it is all that I use.

there is a difference but IMO its not huge, i rarely ever run my 93 perf tune. it stays in 87 performance for everything from towing to off road.

I always use the 93 tune in my truck. But damn it loves gas when I do that haha.

But good choice on the getting an X3. With custom tunes that's the only good tuner for our trucks IMO. The store bought ones just don't do the same as they would on like 2fiddy or something.

even the ones u get for a "2fiddy" are not worth the money.... same deal... go custom there and get oh so much more....

back to topic-

so you all with tuner, what kind of mpg increase did you see in the economy. also is there a tune for a 92-93 octane? im not a fan of 87 just from the deposits it leaves in a motor( please god no flame). also anyone running an auto trans, did it help much?

Also with the X3 can't you firm up the shifts if you have a auto?

You can vary the shift firmness a little through the programmer but most of it is set up in the tune. I hated the auto transmission in my truck until I got the tuner, it is much more drivable and efficient now. I am not sure how much mpg increase comes from the trans itself.

I have noticed no mpg change. If anything it is a little worse sometimes. But I can for sure tell the truck is more powerful and shifts sooo much better compared to stock. Do y'all think if I changed from the 93 tune to my 87 I could possibly get a few more miles out of a tank of gas?

What would you say about getting a 87 towing tune or would it just be best to run the performance tune when towing?

you can get a torque tune if you want but you can also do just fine with a performance tune. you can get 3 different custom tunes on an X3

yeah i'd just do that but its completely up to you and what you want or need. 91 is fine. you can get tunes made from as low as 85 up to 93 octane, just specify what octane you want/need

Do you think a 85 economy tune be pretty close to a 87 economy tune?
