Alternator Bearing
Hey,
I replaced the engine belt this weekend to see about eliminating the squeals; which it did. However, when I was inspecting the alt with the belt off, I could hear the bearing squeak while turning it. Can that bearing be replaced? I have looked at autozone to no avail. I'd be a little upset if the whole unit have to be replaced as it still produces good power.
I'd appreciate any feedback on this, thanks!

Never heard of an alternator bearing but you can get an alternator rebuild kit but it's not fun I can tell you that. If it's just making sounds and works fine I would buy a new one and leave it in the garage or whatever and replace it when it dies.
Yes, you can replace just the bearings in the alternator. You can either by a rebuild kit that has them or pull it apart and remove them and get the # 's from them or match them. If you decide to pull it apart make sure you mark the case halves before dis assembly. Alternators are very simple don't be afraid to give it a go. There are videos on YT that show you how to rebuild them and also cage the brushes for when you put it back together.
