Any Idea's???

I have a 01 single cab with a3.0,at, with about 135k on engine an tranny. I work at an Auto Salvage Yard so parts are plentiful!!!! I was wondering if anyone knew if any parts from another similar motor that will give me a lil more horse power. Im not talking about like 20-30 more. Just enough that I would definitely notice it. I was wondering if the throttle body off a 4.0 would make a difference since it probably has a larger opening for more air. I also heard that the heads off a 3.0 Taurus motor would give me more HP cause of the size of the valve openings!! Any info as to weather any of this will work or help or any orther things I can do to increase HP! I don't race it or anything. I would just like it to be there when I need it. For like pulling out in traffic or passing other cars.. Thanks in advance!!!

Pull a 5.0 from an Expo. That'll give you a little more pep

I thought of swapping the 3.8 from a mustang. Since I want to keep my mpg up but still have some *****!!! What fab work would need to be done to put the 5.0 in? Does anyone know if the Jet chip is worth it o would the Super chips be better?

Oh an Masteratarms93, I plan on moving up to NH in a couple of months! What do u do in the winter? Do u drive ur truck or store it? If u drive it do u put sand bags in the back to help with traction. Or do u use chains or studded tires or are just really careful?? Lived in FL all my life. Have driven in Mud ALOT but not sure it that compares at all to snow an ice!!!

3.8L from a Mustang isn't that great. If you wanted to stay V6 I would say a 4.0 SOHC from 01+ Ranger and Expo.

5.0s from 2000ish Explorers are a direct fit in the Ranger.

I do all-terrains tires and 200lbs of sand bags. No one here runs studs or chains.

Thanks Masteratarms93 for all the info. When I was up there last to see my girl it was rite after Christmas an it snowed like crazy( She said it was bad, first time I ever seen snow)!!! But she drives a Lexus RS300 with traction control so it wasn't bad. I just don't want to skid down a mountain!! Lol!!!
