Cleaning EGR Valve??

Cleaning EGR Valve??
I was instructed to clean my EGR valve and the tubing in hopes to get rid of codes P0401 and P1400.. What should i use to clean the valve and tubing??

i did one to a Cadillac devil and i used carb cleaner. it didn't do a whole lot
