Icon5 Yep, New member...with Issues...

Hi all...

Hope I learn to navigate the site quickly.
I'm sure like a lot of new ppl, I registered because of a problem
my 2000 Ranger Trailhead 3.0 v6 gave me yesterday. Now I bypassed
the heatercore after it failed and changed the serp belt a few days ago
then last night the check engine lit with trouble code...

P1151 Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank2 Sensor1 switch point indicates lean

Now, I'm no idiot but no einstein either. I've done breaks, starters, oil, plugs wires
normal wear and replace bits on previous trucks owned but know first hand that vaccume leaks, faulty sensors and evap problems can be a nightmare even for seasoned mechanics to locate. I absolutely refuse to go to a shop!

I already overpaid for my Ranger and don't have a lot of cash to throw away
so unless someone who works at Ford Service reads this and has familiarity
I'm driving as is, just hope it doesn't create a snowball of other problems.

I have a 1997 ford ranger and was having problems with codes close to what you are talking about...LEAN...double check vacuum line you can locate....
mine turned out to be a line going from the throttle body underneath the intake manifold...it was a rubber line about 3 inches long and it was very deteriorated...i could not even see it until I changed my intake manifold gaskets...my truck is a 4 cyl...I'm not sure what your engine is but some of these lines, either plastic or rubber, can become clogged even if they don't look bad on the outside. Make sure that alll the lines you locate which carry air are not blocked....

BT24 Appreciate the feedback brother I am making slight headway...
I was told to start with the Replacing oxygen sensors.
I will check all of the vacuum lines especially the 1 you mentioned that connects to the throttle body.

****UPDATE*****

new motorcraft plugs and wires, this made such a huge difference like night and day.....shaky idle was instantly solved. I checked for vacuum leaks and found none.
My genius older brother suggested I take my CEL code directly to Ford's parts department and have them diagnose it, which they did perfectly, even printed out a schematic and told me the sensor was over $80 bucks...I thanked him and headed directly to Napa, $40 bucks later and I'm back in business

Very glad to here you got your truck running properly again...and I'm glad you did it with minimal cash dished out...i hate to say it but alot of replacement parts should be oem...especially plugs and wires...online oem parts can be much less expensive...but I too did replace my O2 sensors with NAPA parts...keep on trucking brother
