oil dipstick projectile help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my ranger was making a quiet clicking noise while driving and misfiring, changed out the plugs and it was somewhat fine, a few weeks later it started acting really funny, now it shoots the dipstick right out of the oil pan if you give it a decent amount of throttle, i have never seen or heard of anything like it, does anyone know what could be causing this, the engine has about 105k miles on it so i dont think its blown but then again its doing some weird stuff right now

^ Agreed. Sounds like it's plugged and you've got too much pressure in there!

just changed the oil the filter seemed to be plugged up, its definitely misfirng, bout to change the plugs and wires and probably the ignition coil as well , took it for a test drive , outside of the misfiring it wasnt too bad, it seemed to smoke, out the driver side coulnt exactly tell where, it also looked like smoke was coming out the catalytic as well, i just got back from iraq, my girlfriend has been drivin it, supposedly the pvc valve was replaced, im gonna check it again anyway, is there anything else that could cause it, im pretty sure the block aint cracked

I've never had an oil filter plug up and I'd be concerned. All those tiny ports and passages must flow oil. I'd change the oil again really soon to see what it looks like. Good luck man !!
