Hello everyone!! So happy to have found this site and am hoping someone can help to identify this "bolt".

I have a 2000 XLT 3.0L 6.

There is a "bolt" that is attached to the front of the engine directly below the thermostat. This bolt has a hose attached to the bottom and a "sensor" attached at the top. Coolant/water flows up through this hose and into the engine. This "bolt" has developed a pin-hole in it so that the coolant/water will "spew" out when engine is running.

Does anyone know what this coolant flow-through "bolt" is called? I've attached a pic of it looking from the top of the engine compartment. Hope it makes sense.

I was going to replace it myself but am unable to detatch the hose from the bottom of the "bolt". So will need to take it to a shop. Would just like to be able to tell the mechanic what the "bolt" is actually called.

that be the coolant temp sensor..and that is part of the thermostat housing if i remember right

 

Thanks DJ. I think the coolant temperature sensor screws into the top of the "bolt" which has the pin-hole leak. I can find images of the sensor itself, but none of what the sensor actually screws into.
