im thinking about doing a 3inch BL on my 04 edge 2wd and i was wondering how hard or aggravating and about how long it will take it is i want to put 33s with 15x10s

 

It'll take a while i've you've never done it before.
its not too hard, the cab bolts are the hardest part.

 

Depends upon the tools you have access to and your mechanical ability. It is not a difficult mod though.

 

do you think i could get it done in about a weekend

 

I don't see why not.

 

I wouldnt do it alone. Ask a friend or two to help.

 

A weekend will be perfect, it will give you enough time to be able to take your time and not worry about having to get it done for work the next day or to be able to run up to the store for some parts or tools that you might end up needing without worrying about getting it done before morning.

Def a good thing to have, even if its just to hand you some tools or to keep you company. Trust me having to get up and down a million times for a tool gets old fast and having an extra set of hands especially on the cab bolts or to get something makes things a million times easier.

I did the bed by myself and even though it went fine, it would have been nice to have someone to hold the bed up instead of pushing it up and holding it with one hand and then using the other to slide the block in and try and line it up in the dark. Also like stated the cab bolts are the hardest part and even letting mine soak for days with pb blaster and heating them up, I had 1 or 2 that the body bushing kept spinning with the bolts. I actually had to use a smaller pry bar and pull it against the bushing while my friend cranked the bolts. There is no way I could have done that by myself, and like I said it just makes things so much easier in everyway having an extra set of hands or even to just keep you company.

Just take your time, use a weekend to do it so your not stressed for time, and just turn it into something fun. Invite a friend or 2 over, drink some beers and chit chat while you enjoy wrenching on a truck being a man.

(on a side not, having alot of tools, preparing beforehand, and good knowledge were worth their weight in gold for me. Like I mentioned above for the body bushings/bolts being able to improvise and have alot of tools at my side made it alot easier and I didnt have to run up the road a million times to the store for little odd and ends. I made sure I had everything ready to go, soaked my bolts like a week before in pb blaster every day, seats out, center console out, etc, and had everything planned out ready to go) I think it took from start to finish about 10-12 hours for me, but this included taking our time, running up to lowes for something, stop and got some drinks at the gas station, etc. It can be done in 4-6 hours if your super fast and have people to help, but just give yourself plenty of time and enjoy it.

yeah i mean i got alot of access to a variety of tools in my shop and i was just going to get my brother in law to help me out with it....so i will have to take pretty much every thing out of the cab except the dash and the sterring wheel??

Yep just the flooring to get to the 4 cab bolts but due to the fact that my extended cab is a 2 door, I removed my passenger seat/center console together so I could get in and out easy and its just 2 bolts and unclip the connection. Had to do the shifter because mine is a manual so I had to install the extension.

 

Yea its not too bad. Me and two buddies got it done in about 5 hours.

Try to get a hold of somebody who's done a BL before; even if it wasn't on a Ranger, they'll know a few tricks that will help you with the install. Start soaking all of the fasteners now, and keep hitting them efery couple of days. Good luck!

A propane torch for the cab bolts makes life alot easier. The 'loctite' Ford uses on these bolts is a b!tch. As for as doing the lift, I did mine pretty much myself, my wife was my companion and wrench retriever.
