I wheel with an open, it's not impossible.. but if you're going to the trouble to get a limited slip you might as well do it right and get a locker. My friend tore up his lockright so I'd hafta reccomend against that, but the auburn ected and detroit locker are both viable options.

If I got one I'd be finding weak points on my truck like there was no tomorrow, I like getting stuck before stuff breaks.. (and having an excellent offroad recovery crew!)

If you're decent at working on your truck and have the basic tools, you can do it yourself. They install in your open carrier, so you don't have to upgrade anything. If you had a limited slip, then you'd hafta switch to an open (or buy a special kit I think). The ected is cool b/c it's a pushbutton locker. so it's a l/s around the streets, then push a button for offroad traction.. very cool.

I would also go with an electric locker - best of both worlds

i would jus order an e-locker...messsing with swappin another rear in and using the ford factory ls seems like little too much effort for something that not much of a return will come from

I have a ford trac-loc waiting to install in mine. I would reccommend a stock limited lip for what you want. I paid $100 for mine, slightly used on Ebay. A ECTED or comparable would be way too much for what you need, they run about $500 new.
