Need some help guys

My ford ranger XLT 3.0 knocks a little and has low power when going up hills. I am using 87 octane fuel, and i already clean the MAF. Does anyone know what causes this?
All advice would be greatly appreciated.

That won't change anything unless he has a tune. Running higher fuel on a stock truck is a waste of money.

Try waiting past the shoulder seasons. Either the computer is having a little bit of trouble adjusting to the temp changes from winter to spring, or the additives they put in fuel are messing with your truck as they change from winter to spring. Computers and AFI engines are good but not perfect.

You could have a bad mass air flow sensor, even though you cleaned it. What is the baro reading in Hz? After you cleaned your MAF sesnor, did you clear the keep alive memory by disconnecting the battery?
Usaully a dirty or bad MAF sensor will cause a knock, and loss of power. It's very common with these rangers. Over here in Southeast Louisiana my BARO reading is 160 hz. Readings will vary depending on sea level.

That's a good place to start... try the basics and go from there if it doesn't work!
