Hi I have a 1996 ranger XL 3.0 v6 2WD 3.73 rear end non-limited-slip and 99k miles. I will be pulling this trailer with probably 60 pallets...

I usually run my 30" BFG AT's at 35 PSI all the way around, I was thinking about 39 or 40 for this haul.

I will be driving 2 hours there, 2 hours back with one hill I have to worry about.

Trailer is around 400lbs and after camping equipment and all the pallets it will probably be roughly 1k...

Will also have two 250lbs dirt bikes in the bed of the truck, will 40 PSI be fine for this?

P.S. I am also using the bumperball.

I don't remember, all I know is that not rated for much.

 

You'll be fine using the bumper ball and the trip in general. The bumper is rated for 2k lbs and 200 pounds tongue weight. Keep the rpms up on the hills and the 3.0 will pull them no problem--you'll probably have to use 3rd gear.

I went on a dune trip recently towing a trailer w/2 quads on in (about 2k lbs total) for over 650 miles using the bumper ball w/o a lick of trouble or damage--towed great. Truck also had about 600lbs of gear in the bed and cab. The 3.0 did great, pulled over a dozens grades/hills at 60mph with power to spare. Ran em' 3rd gear at 4k rpm.

Tire pressures sound correct. I think you'll be surprised at how well the truck tows.

 

i was with you until you said bumper ball. i would never pull anything with a bumper ball. just my opinion though

It was about 1500 in the trailer, and I set it up to where the tongue weight was 140. :)

I've been using the bumper ball for the last 70k miles. I haul a 7x14 single axle trailer with 1 zero turn up front and 1 48" saber on the rear. Tongue weight is more then I can lift, no issues. My F350 says a maximum of 500# tongue weight, that is just humorous to me.

 

How did that 3.0 do? I wouldnt even wanna tow a box of tissues back when my truck had a 3.0

 

I towed a 2400lb car over 35 miles on a to dolly earlier this year with my truck, no issues using the bumper ball. Pulled a 6-7% grade for over 5 miles at 55-60mph with power to spare. Kept it in 3rd gear at approx 4k rpm. Keep the R's up on this little motor and they pull very well.

Did great, on our way there was in 4th going 55 and on the way back was in OD at 60 perfetly. :)

 

I gotta ask... what kind of pallets are these? Most pallets I've seen are about 50 lbs each. 60 of those puppies would be 3000 lbs.
