Lower Radiator Hose
Lower Radiator Hose
Does anyone know what hose is coming off of the water pump? the lower Radiator hose connects to the bottom of the T piece then I believe a heater hose is connected at the t portion. Then at the top of the T A hose goes from there to the Water pump. I cant find this hose anywhere and am wondering if someone who owned the truck prior made this whole setup? As you can see i need to replace those hoses.
What is this used for? Is it just to help warm the engine faster? I really need to know because mine started leaking (from rust
) and i just removed the fitting and replaced it with the sensor, and plugged the hose...
Edit:
Well 60 miles and no problems guess I will just replace the lower hose with one that does not have this extra line running from it

Well atleast I'm not alone!
From my guess it is just an overflow/back-feed hose, I actually found a diagram for a slightly older model that showed the sensor in that port anyways...
Next task to tackle is flushing the system, now that I fixed the leak!

There is another thread here, https://www.ranger-forums.com/2-9l-3...called-131775/
It is basically a bypass hose that bypasses the thermostat. The elbow fitting just holds the temp sensor. you can block the hose off and screw the sensor in where the elbow was, I ran mine that way for almost 2 years, before i finally fixed it.
The only thing I really noticed with it blocked, was it took about 2x as long for the truck to heat up in the winter.
If your elbow fitting is bad, and you want to fix it right, here is an amazon link to a replacement elbow

Ahhh awesome man appreciate your input. Just wondering because I seem to have some coolant leak from that hose every time she is not driven lol. I almost assumed that it was a part of the lower radiator hose.
what connector is the elbow connector that's to the right of the sender? mine is rusted and i cant find anywhere which part this is to get a replacement
