So i was driving and my brake pedal just pushed to the floor and i had no brakes . I bought a new master cylinder and power brake booster im gonna replace both because they're pretty inexpensive and i don't wanna was my time replacing one and have the other one be bad. Has anyone else had any experience with this ?? is there any guides on the replacement of these parts ive looked around on the web and havent found anything

 

by an chance ,did you check for broken lines , rear wheel cylinders gone bad , these can cause to the brakes to fail as well

 

Yea^ more than likely you have a broken line/ wheel cyl. Check for leaks before you throw parts at it. Master cylinders rarely fail in comparison to lines and wheel cyl

 

It was the booster the first thing I check was for fluid leaking and nothing was leaking .. I replaced the master because I had it off and it was only 60 bucks .. When it happened the pedal went straight to the floor so is it was a wheel cylinder you would be able to pump and get some of your brakes back mine had nothing at all

 

if a wheel cylinder seals fail , it is the same as a broken line , there is nothing to stop the fluid . I have to agree with everyone else that said it was a line or wheel cylinder , I have had both fail , the result was no brakes .

 

Yeah but I had no fluid leaking so that wasn't the issue the fluid was full I replaced the booster and it fixed it .. Didn't even have I bleed the system

 

So how did the replacement go? my booster is going out on me as well from what I am told.

what did you go with for a replacement?

 

It went well it's really simple it took me about 30 mins didn't have to bleed the system I just in hooked the master cylinder and there's 4 bolts on the firewall inside then the pedal has a clip .. I bolted the new one and it was good to go ! Really easy !! I just got a autozone one nothing special I don't think it's a part that is significant enough to spend extra cash on getting something special I would say it would be good to do every 100k or 10 yrs of you wanted to be consistent about it .. But I've had cars with over 300k and 20yrs old and never had to replace it before

Yeah it's really easy ! Let me know when you get some time to burn in those limit straps and shock tower supports ! It would be awesome to get that done !!

 

Did you check the condition of the rear wheel cylinders and the lines; will the new Master and Booster have a bad result on the older parts ?

Just wondering if the new found pressure of the new parts is going to overpower the old seals !

 

Mine are fine but I would check them .. Mikes has newer rear disk brakes and I'm converting to it soon

 

Don't really think that would be an issue. Brake pressure is a variable number and is at maximum when you lock your brakes up (max force produced to stop wheel movement 100%). Brake lines are made to withstand high PSI and it's not like they'll be getting any new treatment with the brake booster really...

 

I will find out later today, replaced my master yesterday and replacing the booster today, really getting tired of my brakes not working to their full potential.
