distinguishing characteristics of long beds vs. short beds
Hi
First post here. Ive been looking for a 1st gen or early 2nd gen long bed Ranger for awhile now and I feel Ive overlooked quite a few because the owners don't know which beds they have. Too make matters more complicated for me the owners typically take pictures of their trucks from weird angles making it hard for me to identify which is which. are there any other identifying characteristics that I can look for? I heard that the fuel doors are different is there any merit to that?
Thanks
Matt

Not sure on the fuel doors but even at odd angles long beds are very distinguishable. The biggest key is they have to be regular cab to my knowledge you couldn't get extended cab and long bed except maybe special order for fleet trucks.
The gas door is the most notable difference. This is an old pic of my 91 longbox, note the position of the gas door.

Here is a pic of my 07. It may be a newer model, but it's a shortbox & the gas door is a lot closer to the front of the box.
