Just finished installing my switch panel to control a handful of lights.
Here is the final installation.

- 6 switches, 5 installed. 3 position: on, slave, and off
- Red switch serves as an "all On" and activates all the others
- legends illuminated with dash lights (i will add night picture when sun goes down)
- lights can be slaved to controlling source, reverse lights activate rear facing lights, high beams activate forward-facing lights

Nice clean installation though i would have left the radio where it was and put the switches lower. Plus the glare from the radio at night cant be healthy and if anything spills on the radio, game over for the radio

I felt that this was a better use of space, eliminated the useless pocket you get with a single-din adapter, and allowed me to build the switch module the way I wanted without having to compromise function or have fuses in hard to reach areas.

I believe that spilling on the radio will be a non-issue unless my coffee cup has a serious malfunction, and lowering the deck actually improves the night time situation in my case. It ends up below my immediate vision, where in the original location it was quite bad at night.

I made mine under the cd player. I was afraid that would be to tight to fit, but it ended up pretty well.
It's used to light up cab lights, under dash lights, e some extra stuff that i plan for the future .

Cassiouru, That looks like it worked out well.
I wanted to find a reason to use switch guards too, but it didnt' work out for me. Good job getting it to fit under the radio.

 

 

Automotive radios are often sized in DIN
single DIN 2" high, or double DIN, 4" high, and either is 7"-8" wide, usually 7" in the US

You can buy Double DIN trim rings for Rangers
Also single DIN switch panels

They are year of Ranger specific, i.e. a 1992 trim ring won't work on a 2002
