I got rid of my 2003 tremor back in 2011 for a 2004 f150 lariot... while i love my f150 i truly missed my ranger.. so i bought a 2002 ranger xl.

over the next couple of years i want to turn this into a good looking truck that my son can learn how to drive in.. ill give you an idea of what i think and maybe some of you guys can give me some ideas too... im thinking of lifting it enough to get some 15-16 bullet hole rims and nice wide road tires on it... other than that what do you guys think i should do?

also has anyone used the rustoleum roll on liner, if so what did you think?

I've also been considering using DIY bedliner on the lower part of my truck as well. Maybe someone can chime in with some experience.

 

Roll on Bedliner is awesome. I used Dupli-Color Bed Armor or something like that.

Its chunky and super durable. Good prep work is the key.

 

I made a thread on here not that long ago about doing the same and the general consensus I got was that Herculiner is preferred, but like Taylor said, prep work is key. Welcome back as well!

 

well searching the forum... im finding that it is possible to change the front end and put a power dome hood on my truck.. this is interesting.

 

Welcome back, the forum is not as active as it was, but still lots of good info here.

If you are wanting a good on road truck, I definitely would not lift it.

Power domes are cool but getting hard to find, if you see one at the junkyard it white, grab it! One nice thing about an XL is you can do lots of upgrades by grabbing stock parts off of higher trim or newer Rangers. Jeep wheels will also fit.

x3 on the bed liner, roll-ons can be great with good prep. Make sure you pull and plug all the torx bolts in the bed and tailgate before you do it.

 

I did the Rustoluem spray on Bedliner (Rattlecan) on my front/rear bumper and along my rocker panel and over the fender wells and used Duplicolor paint to match my interior and clear coated it. I will have pictures soon. The Rustoluem spray on bedliner gives it a durable surface that is the texture of 120 Grit sandpaper. For this application it is perfect, for an actual bed liner I'd stay away from it. I used the Roll-on Rustoluem bed liner and it was "Eh" I should have shaken it in the paint mixer at Lowes because I had random chunks even though I mixed it well. Since I was only using it as extra protection before putting my drop-in liner I didn't care how it looked.

5-speed. its a straight work truck. which is a good starting point... i just want a good looking solid running truck for my son to learn to drive in.

Yeah, you can throw a 4x4 / edge front end on there and have the honeycomb grille. Do it!

I think that truck lowered on black/polished FR500 wheels would looks sweeeeet

Wish my father bought me a 5-speed to learn on! Actually, would have appreciated anything towards purchasing my own vehicle, Lol. Once he knows how to drive it you and your RF buddies will help him Mod it!

 

my brother is pushing me to do this... he said we've had plenty of lifted trucks and we need a lowered truck. idk if i would lower or just drop the back to level it... and i agree i think those wheels would look good.
