Mountaineer axle swap

Ford 8.8 Rear end 3.73 gears Disc

I'm thinking about getting this axle to swap into my Ranger.

His ad says posi rear, but I don't think they ever came with that, I would guess limited slip.

I've already bought the gears for my 8.8, but they should still work, I just wouldn't be able to use my L/S out of my 28 spline.

I should only have to change the is the axle perches correct?

I'm going to do some quick forum searches to see if I can answer my own question

This thread has a good explanation of some of my questions. https://www.ranger-forums.com/drivet...stions-139861/

My expectation is that the 31 spline will be needed down the road when I start putting down more horsepower

Maybe I have answered my own question with the above link

It appears buying this kit http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/...g/88SS-31.html makes this swap much easier.

I guess I need to determine if this 8.8 is an open or L/S carrier.
