We always hear about how people use fuel system cleaners to clean the engine but unless you have a dirty injector with a misfire, who knows if the fuel cleaners actually do anything?!?!

In this video I show before and after using Gumout "All in one" fuel system cleaner which claims after one use, you will see results.

Techron and Seafoam are the two brands I have used. I've generally gone with Techron. I never did any investigation as you did to see if they did anything though. I don't have a borescope camera. I think that your approach was about the same as I would have done, if I were doing a video. This guy seems to think the same way as well. Apparently Seafoam is not designed for modern fuel injection.

Scotty Kilmer did not use real pictures of before and after. If you look closely the piston tops are from two different pistons. Also, he was payed to make the video and in the time given to create the video, I doubt he would have time to do a before and after test. Notice my results were completely different. Seafoam is not the same recipe since it was made. They adapted to modern vehicles and I think it rivals other cleaners but I will be testing it to see for real (instead of just a hunch).

How do you know that he is
paid? Just curious.

I have a hard time believing most product claims, because of paid claims and fake results.

I never really considered Seafoam to be bad and never thought it couldn't be used in an EFI system. I still think its one of the better off the shelf products.

 

seafoam works better if you remove the spark plug and pour 2 ounces of seafoam inside the cylinder and let it sit overnight
seafoam works like magic on carbon , but it needs time to dissolve the carbon buildup

overnight should do the trick

seafoam only works in EFI engines to lubricate and clean out the fuel injectors and catalytic converters

 

Where do we go from here...Now I need a lab top and borescope in my tool box...LOL I'm only kidding... I'm sure the fine print on any product that claims to be a "one shot" fix is very fine. More over they seem to drop in that "with continude use" you may see results like they see in lab testing. What carbon does is absorbs some of the fuel that gets injected into the pistons as well as the carbon that builds up on the intake valves. Carbon is the after effect from combustion that gets left on any surface that cant be physically cleaned like the walls of the cyliner do by the rings as the piston travels up and down. Techron this, Gum Out that, STP and the rest of them know that it just a by product of combustion and the fact is it will always be there. Even with todays computer controlled engines carbon still happens. I use Lucas at every oil change and stay away from low quality type gas station that seem to be more inline with a mini marts then a gas station. I really did like the video, hope your next one gets the results you are looking for...
