Hi, I have a 96 2.3 ranger with a rough idle do to the egr valve needing to be cleaned and the dpfe needing to be replaced, which is on my to do list. My question is, my ac compressor will come on and off while at idle, will this go away if when I fix the rough idle or is it a separate problem? Any thoughts. Thanks

 

do you have the heat or AC on when the engine is idling

if not , then the problem lies within the heater control panel , the AC compressor clutch is receiving power when it should not be

 

I just have the the vent dial on, no ac.

 

the problem might reside inside the control dial

might be a electrical short , allowing voltage to the AC compressor clutch
