I tried to start my ranger and while it tried to start it then set off the antitheft alarm, what to do?

Ford Rangers didn't have alarms, i.e. flashing headlights or horns/sirens
They had a Passive anti-theft system(PATS) starting in 1998 on some models
No sound with this system, engine just wouldn't start and on some years it wouldn't crank either, Theft light on dash would flash rapidly if the Key used didn't pass PATS test

So you probably have a 3rd party or Dealer installed alarm system.

What year is this Ranger and what engine?
