3.0l V6 automatic to 2.3l manual conversion

I want to convert my engine and transmission to a 4 cyl engine and manual transmission to save gas and manuals are awesome.
1. Is it even possible?
2. How hard would it be?
3. How many extra parts would need to be bought?
4. Feel free to answer/troll/whatever. Answers would be appreciated though.

Welcome to the forum

What year is the 3.0l auto?
And which 2.3l, Lima or Duratec?

Swapping different STOCK Ranger engines is usually not economical, since you can just go out and buy the Ranger you are trying to make from scratch.

Best bet is to sell the 3.0l Ranger and buy a 4cyl Ranger.

You will need cross brace added to engine bay for 4cyl motor mount
New steering column without auto shifter, although you can leave that.
Clutch/brake pedal assembly for your year.
Rear drive line
Exhaust system changes

And of course, 4cyl engine and transmission, computer and wiring harness for that engine and transmission.
The computers for manuals and automatics are different, so heads up about that.

Thanks

I think I may just buy the manual and sell the auto.
I am trying to saving money plus i like manuals.
That seems the economical route.

-thanks
