Heater Hose 4.0L OHV 93'

All:

Spent a frustrating day trying to get at the water pump on this thing. The fan clutch what a pain. Anyways I noticed when I finally got to the water pump I noticed one of the heater hoses is in bad shape. Do I need to order hose for this or is it just bulk hose. No custom bends in it and just sort of snakes around from the heater core to the water pump?

Welcome to the forum

Yes, fan clutch can be a pain, I bought the 4 wrench set years ago for $10, best money I every spent, even for the few times I have used it.

Yes, any hose of correct diameter will be fine to use, I think both hoses had slip on sleeves that can be swapped over to new hoses, protection from rubbing against other parts.
Flush and back-flush heater core while hoses are off.

I reverse the hoses on fire wall heater core connections every 2 years when coolant is changed, this back-flushes out any debris that may have come in and couldn't get out in the previous 2 years, lol.

Thanks for the reply. Tried a number of things to get the fan clutch off, tightening the tensioner to put more pressure on the belt, tie down strap, no luck. Ended up picking up a 3 foot piece of iron bar at Home Depot drilled a hole on one and installed on the pulley with one of the pulley bolts. Worked like a charm, one quick snap of the wrench on the bolt and it released.

Yes, on the one heater hose noticed it has a protective sleeve (heat shield). Good tip on back flushing. Thanks

Out of curiosity is there any replacement brands one should stay away from. I see for water pumps there is Gates, GMB, AC Delco, Cardon.

Sorry, I was referring to the mfg of water pumps. Probably should have started a separate thread.

Oops, missed the water pump part, it was in english, my native language...............

No preference from me on water pump brands, but I do look at price for OEM(Ford replacement), if reasonable I will go with that one

I called Ford for a quote and it was like $250.00...umm no thanks. Strange as some of the online places quote AC Delco for a few dollars more than the other 3rd party offerings.
