1993 ford ranger runs for about 30 seconds then dies
i have a 1993 4.0 ranger that i just got the guy drove it 3 hrs away to me when he got here i test drove it and it was fine(although the shifter linkage was off) then started acting up wouldnt accelerate at all had to hold it to the floor and crawl home so i put a new fuel filter plugs and wires and fuel pump relay and still nothing but i did clean the throttle body i started it up and sprayed it and it seemed to rev fine for a couple seconds then would go back to being slugish. let me remind you this is all in park because the shifter linkage im stumped hope comebody has the answer. have not checked fuel pressure yet opps forgot to add it will run if i hold it to the floor or flutter the gas but still runs terrible
Make sure the truck is not running out of fuel, the sending unit may not be reporting correctly.
If your sure you have fuel then do the fuel pressure test your planning.
What is your question about the shifter linkage?
If the cable is broken you will need to replace it.
If it was unbolted you will have to re connect it.
Sounds like you purchased a project truck not a daily driver.
