4x4 service
4x4 service
Hello,
I have a 2010 4x4. It has only 40+K miles on it. I am wondering if I should be having the 4x4 portion serviced? The truck runs fine....it's just that it is 7+ years old and since one changes the oil in the engine at defined times....should I be changing the oil or whatever on the 4x4 part.
Yes, I am not totally knowledgeable about this stuff.

You should shift it once a month
2WD to 4high then 4low then back to 2WD, you don't have to drive it or even move it, just shift it sitting in the driveway and wait for 4WD light to confirm it shifted to correct selection.
This keeps the electric shift motor's brushes clean and the lube in the motors gear case spread out.
Transfer case used ATF, yes automatic transmission fluid.
It can be drain and changed, it only takes 2 quarts and has no filter so not expensive to change it.
