Miss, skip, hesitation? No Codes and goes away when warm
Hey Ya'll, I'm trying to sort out an issue on my 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0l. (manual tranny)
Cold starts are not an issue, vehicle fires up and idle quickly settles down to about 700rpm. I shift into 1st, drive away and go about my business.
Once the vehicle reaches operating temp it's a great runner. Not a hotrod by any means but it goes fine for me. The issue is when the vehicle is "cold".
It almost feels like a miss or a skip when I'm driving at low rpms. I can make it happen in any gear, as long as the rpms are below 2500.
I've never had a vehicle with a diagnosed "miss" so I can't say if that is what I'm feeling. Best way I can describe is that it feels like I'm dragging a rope and it catches on something briefly. It's not a serious lurch, but enough to wonder "WTF"
I usually just keep the revs up until the engine warms. Once the temp gauge is pointing at 12 o clock there are no issues.
212k KM's on the vehicle. No codes, no CEL. Coolant is perfect, burns no oil. Tranny fluid is fine. Diff fluid is fine too. I've checked the brakes, the wheels spin as they should.
Any suggestions appreciated. I like my ranger (aside from how much fuel it drinks) and I want it running 100%
