Icon9 2000 Ranger 4.0L OHV Camshaft Sensor/Upper Intake

I've been getting a error code on my 2000 Ranger 4.0L V6 OHV regarding the Camshaft Position Sensor. I finally got my new sensor(s) in (i ordered 2 different makes) so i decided to tackle it. I managed to get the upper intake manifold off and got the sensor out (what a pain!). I'm trying to figure out the gasket situation and i dont even see one (does that mean it probably needs a new one?)

Also, the sensor(s) i got off amazon are not the correct ones. the one that came out is a 2 pin, the ones amazon sent me, 3 pins. grrrr.

Thanks!
Scott

You need the 2 wire sensor, no way to make the 3 wire work with your Computer, they use different types of signal, literally AC and DC, but no conversion possible

Don't remember there being a gasket but you could install a thin one

ya i didn't expect to get the 3 pin sensor to work. have a 2 pin on order. thankfully amazon is good for returns :)

thanks for the gasket info. it doesn't appear to even have one (i expected to have to scrape the old one off but there is nothing.
