SEEKING BUY ADVICE-Edge, Needs A Fuel Pump

2004 Ford Ranger EDGE, 110k Miles seller wants $2800
Now I came across this deal. I have checked out a couple of vids (below) looks like it's within my skills to replace the fuel pump but is that all there is to it or could be overlooking something?
Owner says he was "just driving and it just shut off all of a sudden right in front of a firestone shop." The shop told him fuel pump is toast.
I am new to Rangers and I am wondering...
-Does this sound like FP? How can I tell that it's actually fuel pump and/or could it be FP & something else or something else altogether? Is there a likelihood the fuel pump is known to take out something else with it when it goes bad? I am trying to anticipate hidden costs but from experienced Edge users/owners.
-Would you guys consider this a deal for 2800 considering cost of pump
$130 $130
, your time to do this job?

FP replacement

Yes, sliding the bed back is the easiest way to change fuel pumps on the Rangers, unless you have a lift and a transmission jack handly

Very odd for fuel pump to quit that way, while driving, electric motors are hard to start(big amp draw), but once started they tend to stay running.
Normal fuel pump failure mode is a No start, i.e. "I drove it yesterday, but today it won't start"
It could happen as describe, just not a normal failure mode for electric fuel pumps.

The fuel pump should run for 2 seconds EACH TIME key is turned on, and it is not that quiet, its HUMMM can be heard in the cab, turn radio down, lol

Fuel pump has its own fuse in engine fuse box, and it has its own Relay in the engine fuse box
If either of these fail then Check Engine Light(CEL) should come on with a P023X code, the computer monitors fuel pump voltage
For many year Rangers had a "Check fuel switch" light on the dash, it for the inertia switch, not sure its on the HEC digital dashes(2004 and up)

If shop tested voltage and its OK but fuel pump is not starting up then thats about all they can do
If fuel pump failed it would not cause any other damage to vehicle.

But you will be buying a vehicle that you have never driven, so you can't tell if there are any other issues with drive train

Up to you on the 3rd party fuel pump, they are known to fail but under warranty, so you get a "free" replacement, just a pain to replace it, lol
And a pain if it quits when you are not at home or a place you can work on the truck

Motorcraft pumps are way more expensive but you for sure will not have to replace it anytime soon, they are tested, which is why they cost more
