So, I'm doing a front end suspension overhaul on my 02 Ranger (XLT 4x4, 4 door torsion bar) and I can't find the MOOG bushings for the lower control arms. Almost 100k on the truck, and original uppers. So I'm putting the MOOG upper arms in so I can punch out the bushings and ball joint in the future if need be. But, I plan on reusing the lower arms as they aren't rusted out bad and I can push out the ball joint. I can't seem to find any bushings to fit the lowers though. I'd need 4. Can I even push out the lower control arm bushings? I don't really have 200+ dollars to drop on lower arms. Any answers welcome. Thanks.
Also, do I have 27 or 29mm swaybar? Idk if you can figure out the size by truck info, or if I have to go measure it. Thanks.

 

It is doable, but it's a massive pain to do them without proper tools to hold the lower control arm in place. I fought them for a couple of hours and after all was said and done, I swore I would never do them again. My bushings were the house brand from one of the auto parts stores.

You can get a pair of new lower control arms online for around $140. To rebuild your current arms is going to run you at least $100 if you're going to buy Moog lower ball joints, and then throw in around $40 for the bushings and bam, you're at the cost of the completed control arms online. And that's the same problem I ran into, it wasn't any cheaper to rebuild my old ones then it would be to just spend a couple of dollars more and buy completed lowers. Your time has value as well.

 

I wish I had read this before today. I'm ***** deep on the left side. Replaced the forward no problem, but the rear is a mother fu*ker. I'm 4 hours in and wish i had just bought the complete new control arm. FML!

finally got it. With a sawzall and a BFH. The auto shop on base does t have a bushing press set, so I was using a ball joint press that didnt have a fitting the right size. It's been a long day. I'm not doing the right side. screw it.

 

I'm thinking about replacing my front suspension on a 99 4x2. Online I like to know what manufacturing should I look at? On eBay they have Detroit Axle, 1a auto, us and THQ. are there any difference in the parts all the all some what the same? Price varies from $100 to $190. Can anyone recommend what part or brand name I should go after?

 

Moog is generally a safe bet. Look for the companies that have been around for a long time. Avoid the companies with strange names and cheap prices. You get what you pay for, usually.
