Perusing Amazon for more stuff to replace my used stuffs with new stuffs, this came up in my search.



I would remove the bottom wording and use the top "4.0" kind of like the Mustangs' "5.0" emblems.

 

When Ford had the 289s in the Mustangs, they also had a little special 289, that few knew about, back then; it was the 289 Hipo or High Performance. This engine was build as a race engine, had larger Main Journals, heavier cross webbing in the block, came with a little more of a performance cam, better lifters and valve springs were stronger sallower faster ramping of the valves. All that aside it was a great engine and used in the Cobra with additional performance parts pull some interesting HP numbers, the Shelby's of the mid 60's had 306 HP ou too one of the Hipo engines.

There was also the 406 Hipo, the 390 Hipo, and the Biggest Beast of all... the 427 Cross Bolted Hipo pulled 450 HP on a single 4-barrel Carb, all of these engine earned the High Performance Rating and all were very strong street runner and could be Race Engines with very little work.

Where is this going, any vehicle that one of these engines in it had the High Performance lettering under its number on the Fender Emblems.

Today, most of the Fender Emblems that have the same wording, is just that just working, so I am with you on getting rid of it but people will be people, and little things like that are what they are... people's ego !
