Newbie offroader/camper question

Hi im new to off roading and camping,
I was wondering if adding a truck cap would change my off roading experience majorly. I can deal with something minor but if it really messes my 01 xlt ranger I won't buy one.

No, they do not weight that much, and very handy for camping, keeping gear dry and also safe if it can be locked up.

And a bit more weight on the rear wheels is helpful when off-road
