2008 driver side airbag replacement
2008 driver side airbag replacement
I had a minor deer collision - minimal damage but the drivers side air bag activated. The 2008 Ranger has now been in the shop for over 3 months waiting for a sensor module. Meanwhile I've had a loaner (Focus) for that time which the insurance is paying for, but are threatening to write off the Ranger if this wait continues. The shop tell me they are in constant touch with Ford and I am being prioritized for the replacement but that they know nothing further.
Does anyone have more information on the cause of the delays and any expected resolution? Thanks.

A follow up: I was advised by the Insurance Company (ICBC), that the vehicle was being written off and the cheque would be in the local office that afternoon (there's fast service). I declined to accept the settlement based on a perfectly serviceable vehicle was being written off for the sake of a $2-300(?) part - all the other repair work had been completed long ago, and sought further information from the estimator. My only option it seemed was to buy the vehicle back from the insurance company, have the sensor installed myself and re-register as a rebuild - following an inspection by ICBC.
Tiring of the process I decided to accept the settlement and move on. I checked the VIN recently to find it was back on the road as a rebuild. I wonder who profited from this arrangement?

If the shop had already done a bunch of the work, they probably just ended up completing the work and getting the title from the insurance company. Once it was all the way completed, they more than likely sold it.
