Put in new heads and gaskets, engine wont start

So me and my friends replaced the heads and gaskets on my 99 4.0l ohv ranger as they were cracked. Anyways we started out by dissasembling the engine and disconecting the electrical and vacume lines.. tore it apart and replaced the heads and spark plugs and threw it back together.

So after we got it back together i tried to start it and kept turning over and over but eventually started but still ocasionally missfired long story short my friend didnt plug in the cam shaft position sensor connector all the way. But it still ran and struggled to start.

Now ive made sure all plugs are to right place and plugged that sensor in all the way, disconected battery and tried to start it but ir wont, the ignstion key when trying to stsrt instead of starting it makes the cranking noise and then its as if it thinks it started and then makes a blower noisei nstead of wanting to start.

Ive tried disconecting camshaft sensor and trying to start, double checking firing order on plugs and it wont start, maybe the starter? 1 crank then blower noise while holding key

Also did i potentually **** motor up??

Sorry for double post this is just more detailed explanation pls ignore old one thanks.
