Hello, first time taking my 06 v6 3.0 ranger in the back country and a struck a rock and cut my transmission coolant hose, was able to cut the hose completely and re clamp it after losing about 2 quarts of transmission fluid and made it 15 km down the mountain to a gas station where I was able to refill my transmission and made the 60 km drive home.
Since then I replaced the hose and it has no visible leaks but there is a small leak of red (transmission?) fluid coming from a cut in the bottom tube on my A/C condenser. Which I only realized after buying a new radiator and pulling out my old one only to find the hole still in what I though was the radiator but after researching found out it’s the condenser 😅
my my question is does it make sense for there to be transmission fluid in my condenser? Considering that I have a secondary transmission coolant system that sits almost in the grill of my truck. The tranny coolant lines go from my transmission to this small cooler, then to the radiator and back to the transmission (maybe not in that order 🤷🏼♂️) and I see no lines other than the the A/c lines going into the condenser.. the A/C still seems to be working it’s not ice cold but still cold, and after very carefully and briefly touching the pressure release valve and can definitely confirm that it’s still pressurized lol.
Secondary question The rock that started it all My transmission coolant system? Old radiator which I put back in and returned the new one to save myself the $200 after realizing the hole was in my condenser. My condenser The hole in my condenser leaking what I believe is transmission fluid
if I were to get the A/C drained/recycled or whatever could I then swap out the condenser myself and get it vacuumed and charged up a little later? AC isn’t exactly a huge priority to me but my transmission definitely is!
