Water steaming from PVC valve opening 3.0 2003 Ranger
Ive been searching for days for something similar on al threads, here we go.
Initially I found water spraying steaming out of the valve cover / PCV valve opening, checked grommet and I had to replace it, but also the oil in engine turned in to a coffe color and low,
coolant full, radiator very low.
I proceeded to replace the head gaskets and orings and cover gaskets, incliding some cover gasket studs that were bent.
poored 2 gallongs of 50/50 in the radiator.
Once all finished waited an hour or so and started the engine, after 15 mins, I noticed water coming out of the PCV valve opening, notices te.p gage ok.
im attaching a pic of the head cylinder condition.
Does anyone know what it could possibly be the root cause? I noticed some marks on the head, water? Not sure.
Hey Super, thanks for the reply brother.
No, I didnt check for flatness or filler gage gaping.
gaping.I disnt see any chocolate milk looking oil.
as far as the steam, thats why Im confused, is that the steam produced from the mixture Fuel-air at the valve and there is not a perfect fit of the valve in the grommet? I have a video of it, but not sure if this thread will support it. I see it dropping down from the hole to the outside of the cover. It is weird!
thats where Im stuck right now.
If the video is on your cell, you have to upload it somewhere so you can link it to the forum, the forum has no way to upload live videos.
About your truck, if the steam was coming out of the PCV valve, isn't that valve on the drivers side near the back on the valve cover, so why did you remove the other head ?
I suppose the lower intake gasket on the drivers side at the back of the head could fail and direct steam (water) into the valve cover area, but I'm not even sure if that's possible.
If that were to happen the gasket should be seen as completely failed in that area, plus the valve train should show signs of water and steam penetration _ milky oil and or steam cleaned valve train.

Sure, I'll try to upload it.
The pic you see is effectively the passenger side (because I replaced botha sides) It is correct!!! PCV valve opening is on driver's side towards rea of the engine.
I might have to open it again, it is possibly that I missed a crack somewhere.
