I think my thermostat is stuck open. So now that I have my new thermostat, water pump, and fan clutch (yeah, I'm out of control), I'm ready to start! So I drain my radiator, disconnect all necessary hoses, and I'm ready to get on those thermostat retaining bolts! Then I see this ...
That is the fuel line attached to my fuel pressure regulator, sitting directly and tightly on top of my fuel charging wiring harness, sitting directly and tightly on top of my thermostat retaining bolt. I was able to get the retaining bolt up about 1/2" with a crow's foot socket; however, I am unable to shift the wiring harness out of the way. So now I have a couple of questions: 1) Is this a normal setup for my engine, or has someone been customizing their ride before this truck was mine, and 2) is there any way to easily get around this one? Or will I need to disconnect my fuel line and wiring harness to change out this thermostat? I know this isn't a deep, technical question, but I'm still new to everything and was excited to jump into an "easy" fix.
Thanks so much in advance for your help, guys. Oh, and here's the stats 1994 3.0L V-6.
