Air flap actuator
Air flap actuator
I have a 2002 ranger. The Air flap actuator for the heat/cool isn't working and the ford dealer tells me it's obsolete. Does anyone know where to locate one? My truck has the vacuum control type . All I found were electric ones. Would an air flap actuator for a Mazda work. Az is too hot with no a/c
Welcome to the forum
The TEMP control is electric, its called the Blend Door actuator, and a common failure on all Ford since they were first used in 1995
There are many sellers of replacement motors
The Vent doors/flaps are vacuum operated, but have nothing to do with temperature, they control air flow direction, i.e. defrost, panel, floor
Google: 2002 ford ranger blend door actuator
The Blend door is in front of the heater core in the cab, air from the fan comes to the Blend door and depending on its position that air is diverted thru the heater core(HOT) or around the heater core(COLD)
So if you can't control Air Temp, then its for sure a Blend Door issue, not a Vent issue
