What’s the deal with the console?

My console is trash, I thought I could go online and pick up another one. Imagine my surprise when I found out no one has them all you can get is a lid, And they want a fortune for those.

What do you guys do since you can’t buy the bottom half just pay the price for the lid?

What console do you have? There's a few different styles used in the Ranger, so we could better help you if we knew what you have to start with.

It's actually in a Explorer in the junk yard. I was wanting to remove it. I think it is called a base console?

Console

It’s just the fold up one you got with the 60/40 bench. The lid is missing. I saw your interior with the explorer seats & console that’s the way I will go if I can find a yard with a doner. My problem is my truck has a 5 speed floor shift.

In my 95 Ranger, with a 5 speed stick, I used a full length console out of a 97 Explorer. The front piece that has the two compartments, you cut off the back side of it, and leave a retainer ring, and then you can have a stick shift boot made at redlinegoods.com.

I used seats out of a Fox Mustang. Just bolt the tracks from the Ranger right on to the seats.

The 95-99 Explorer full length console works well with manuals once you remove the cubby up front. The 00-01 full length console has a different cubby/cupholder assembly, and doesn't work well with manuals. My console is from a 2002 Explorer (third gen), and happens to be the RARE manual transmission version, only offered in 2002. It has the cupholders located closer to the back and keeps your drinks away from the shift lever. I have seen people use the automatic versions of the third gen console with manuals, but I imagine it's awkward with drinks. Plus, you have to cut out the cubby tray as it's all one piece.

What a Deal. Help me with a delima

Went to a local yard (pull and save)and found a really nice Ranger with a blown auto trans. It had the 60/40 bench and pull down console. So l pulled it, with the help of o a good friend, and it only cost me $41.00! for the seat with the console.
Now for the delima,

I also found a 2011 Explorer with power/heated black leather seats in excellent condition. They are asking $100. each for them. Do I buy them also and try to make them fit, using the stock ones as backups. Or just be happy with the stock.

Does anyone know if the 2011 Explorer console will work also.

I would never just settle for stock seats, since stock seats are so uncomfortable. However, 2011 Explorer seats are uncharted territory as far as I know. If you could unbolt your Ranger tracks and find a way to bolt them to the Explorer seat, they might be an option. Otherwise, it might take a lot of work to make them fit, and that's a big gamble to take for $200 in seats.
