I just noticed that the intake air temperature reading was -40C on this screenshot. Could that be it?
EGR valve was burnt out (using a pressure valve, could measure a 5psi vacuum off DPFE hoses even with vacuum line taken off EGR valve), got rusty EGR pipe, valve replaced, drove it from mechanic fine
2 weeks later, got moving permit, it cranks and starts for a second then dies.
With full throttle the engine seemed to rev to over 4000 RPM on the tachometer. Then just dies. Tried partial throttle, could rev to 2000, just dies.
Sometimes there was a bang/explosion coming from the engine bay as the engine stalled, burning smell. Could just be lean? Intake backfire? After a while there were just pops that aren't as loud
Tried taking off fuel pump relay, using brake cleaner as starter fluid spraying inside of throttle body, same thing happens. Won't stay running. Pops/crackles from engine bay sometimes. No codes on the ECU
Don't think it's the ECT sensor, it was reading 68F. Don't think it's the crank position sensor because it seems to be reading RPMs fine.
Tried disconnecting MAF, engine revs out a bit more when starting without giving it throttle, but dies anyway
Could it be the spark plugs? Blown capacitor in the ECU?
It was something with the EGR. Mobile mechanics stuck a pipe wrench on top of/behind the alternator and were hammering on it. All I saw in there was an electrical connector. Huh.
