1993 3.0 V6 not getting power
Hello folks,
this forum has been an invaluable resource for me and I have another repair question for y'all.
My 1993 ranger has been losing power, I put my foot to the floor and barely get any acceleration. I replaced the fuel filter today, which looked to be original or at least very old. The intake side of the filter was extremely dirty, to the point where there was black gunk coming out of it.
After replacing the filter, the truck ran great for about ten minutes. In fact it accelerated better than it has since I've owned it.
However, it soon started getting bogged down again and now is experiencing the same lack of power.
My next thought is to replace the fuel pump.
Is this the right course of action? Any other components that could be the cause of the lack of power?
Any help is appreciated,
Thank you.

In would disconnect fuel filter again and check it
If it was that clogged up then there was MORE of the "gunk" in the hose
With filter off turn on key one time with a pan under the hose, have a look at what come out, if its clean re-install filter, if dirty cycle key on and off again, and again until its clean
Fuel pump will only run for 2 seconds with key on
Unhook one battery cable for at least 5min, that should reset the computer so it will re-learn fuel flow
