What is behind this panel on the firewall that is below the PCM?
I am looking to run some wires to the top of the engine for a temp sensor that interfaces with a module inside the cab. The panel in the picture that is circled in red is about where I would like it to enter the cab for shortest distance to mounting point reasons. My question is what is that panel for or what is behind it? Any body know? Is there a better entry point on the firewall in that general facinaty? Would it be better to remove the PCM and run the wires through that hole then replace the pcm? It is in a 1999 ford Ranger xlt 3.0l v engine code or flex fuel automatic with A/C.2x4 drive train.
I am open to suggestions and thank you in advance.
But there is an access panel below PCM
It is for servicing wiper components
So no access to cab thru there, and no access to cab thru PCM slot, its in the cowl area, same as wiper arms
On the heater hose bypass valve you will see a grey vacuum hose, follow it down to the firewall between blower housing and inner fender, there will also be a black vacuum hose with it at that location
These go thru the firewall and into the cab
This is a picture of an inertia switch in side the cab, but just above it are where the 2 vacuum hoses come thru the firewall: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...tch-jpg.77025/
Your inertia switch won't be there, might be near by, but the vacuum hoses will be there in that location
There is usually enough room to run small wire thru there
On drivers side locate throttle cable on the firewall, inside the cab and in engine bay, you can drill a hole next to it but check both sides of firewall
Sorry for the small picture and thank you for the reply. I think you are correct even though you can not see the pict well enough. That would make since that that is the wiper motor access. And the rest of the reply is very helpful too. I will look into the vacuum hose option as I think that is closest to where I need it to be. The throtle cable is where I have the wires for the fog lights run that were put there by the previous owner. And he failed to put the gromet back so it leaks water inside the cab and is roting out the carpet. So I am looking to reroute those wires also and reseat the throtle cable gromet so it no longer leaks. I may just drill a hole near there Like I have read others have done here on the forum in that same general area. and of course put a gromet on that new hole that I am buying on amazon.
