I am currently wanting to add a turbo to my fully stock 07 Ford ranger. Its a 4.0 V6 automatic. I a newbie in vehicle knowledge especially anything on the engine and other parts/mods. What is a cheap way to add a small turbo? I domt want to send it to a shop as I want to learn more while being the one building my truck. Hopefully to either add it onto my list of things to show off in the future, or to learn what I need to build another vehicle as I do want a gt500 but ill settle for a older cheaper model and upgrade as I go. But anyways yea, what are some potentially cheap ways to add a turbo to a stock 4.0 ranger?
Dream cost nothing, But going cheap on performance can be costly in the long run. Find someone that has done many turbo and see if they could help (Teach) you as you build it.
Its a good looking truck, hate to see it damaged on chepo turbo.
Draw back is internal components are close to maxed out already, the 4.0l sohc used the same block as the 4.0l OHV at 160HP, SOHC is rated as 207HP
And boost is a tricky thing, you just want one more PSI, lol
If 5psi is OK then 6psi should be OK, and if 6psi is OK then 7psi should be OK, ect..................
Until weakest link lets go, lol
