Any Lift kits available for 2WD '98 PD Ford Courier?
G'day all, I've got a 1998 Ford Courier PD 2WD and I'm finding it near impossible to find anything aftermarket for a lift kit.
There's numerous amounts of product brands for a 4WD, but almost nothing for the 2WD. Standard shocks aren't really a problem, the issue is with torsion bars and leaf springs.
The main thing I'm after is a more comfortable ride instead of having to drive around in a bouncy castle all the damn time, it's getting beyond tiresome. Most of the time there's no load in the ute at all and rarely, if ever, I carry anything really heavy in it.
I've got a quote from a local suspension specialists with that in mind, they've quoted me for Climax leaf springs, RAW front and rear nitro gas shocks, and because no one seems to make torsion springs for the 2WD they've quoted to have them custom made. Of course none of this comes cheap, a lot more than I'm wanting, or willing to pay.
Apparently the 4WD torsion bars are longer than the 2WD ones, and the leaf springs are also longer, which makes all the difference, obviously.
A couple of questions;
There seem to be shocks available that are longer than standard, made by EFS and apparently giving a lift of 50mm over standard, still yet to confirm they actually fit the 2WD though. Will OEM torsion bars be suitable with these shocks?
Also, again EFS, according to one reseller, make leaf springs with a 35mm lift, but that has yet to be confirmed. I bought a kit from the same reseller that I had to send back because they told me the leaf springs, and front shocks, they supplied would fit, but of course they didn't, they were for a 4WD. We didn't bother checking the torsion bars, coz undoubtedly they were for the 4WD only too.
Has anyone had any success with a lift kit for the 1998 2WD PD Ford Courier?
If so, what parts and how did the fitment work out?
Cheers
