1989 2.3 Ranger 8.8 differential fluid.

Hello, I recently purchased a 1989 ranger and I want to change the differential fluid but I don't know what fluid I need and whether or not it'll need that friction modifier. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum

Motorcraft SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant 5-pints
4oz of friction modifier as needed

Look at a Build Label on your Drivers door, back edge, go here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...ag-door-codes/

Limited Slip(L/S) needs the friction modifier, but you can add it to any differential, OPEN or L/S it won't hurt OPEN, just un-needed expense
And you can buy bottles of 80w90 premixed with friction modifier
