06 ranger with 2.3 eating oil
06 ranger with 2.3 eating oil
Just picked up a 06 with the 2.3 motor. Motor has 115k original miles on it. For some reason it just loves eating oil. Ive replaced the pcv valve and the small hose that was connect to the pcv valve since it was collapsed, I figured that was my problem but sill eats 1/2 quart or more on a full tank of gas. Runs fine, no lights on the dash. Can't figure out why it would be eating oil. Any other suggestions you guys got? very frustrating since its my 16 year olds truck. any help would be appreciated thanks
What ended up being the problem?
I have almost that exact scenario as well. Bought a ‘06 2.3 Ranger with 105k miles this past year. It’s been running great from day one, but goes through oil like crazy. No smoke out the tail pipe, but has a faint smell of burning oil in the engine bay after driving for a while. I too replaced PCV valve as well as the hose…made no difference. Did you figure it out? If so please share. Thanks
