Air intake box retro fit possibilities
Air intake box retro fit possibilities
I realized yesterday while removing the air intake tube that on my air intake box, the two tabs on the upper plastic lid had broken on my 94 - 4.0L. I do not want a CAI and the OEM air box is a discontinued part. There are a couple on Ebay but my question is that is it possible to retro fit a later model OEM air box that might be easier to source parts for to make happen? Any helpful tips, tricks or advice is appreciated.
You already have a CIA, lol, but yes its better than 3rd party CIA, so don't change it
You can add lever type fasteners to hold the top of the air box down, loads of different types of fasteners that might even be better than what Ford used
No, I don't see any crossovers for the air cleaner box in later years, doesn't mean you can't make one fit by drilling new mounting holes

Thanks RonD! I think my best bet is to come up with an alternative fastener for the existing box rather than fiddling with retro fitting something and potentially running into more problems and having to come back to square one again. Thanks again man!
