So a couple days ago I swapped the 7.5 open rear end from my 2002 3.0 for a 8.8 with a limited slip, the truck does have an axle flip kit and a set of sticky tires. Ever since I did the swap I have far more traction but when i get on the throttle hard or get aggressive with the clutch I hear a loud metallic slapping sound for the back of the truck. I rebuilt the diff myself and have double checked my U bolts and everything looks just fine. I'm thinking I now have some serious axle wrap with the new found traction and the noise is the leaf springs hitting each other. I never had issues with the open diff of course. The end goal for this truck is a 302 and I'd really like to get this figured out before that time comes. Has anyone ever dealt with this issue and what is the best way to deal with it?
